How to Swap Crypto Without an Account or KYC
Want to exchange crypto without signing up or verifying ID? Here's how non-custodial, no-account swaps work, when they're allowed, and how to do one safely.
Centralized exchanges make you create an account and verify your identity before you can trade. Non-custodial swaps skip that: you connect nothing, sign up for nothing, and the coins go straight to your wallet. Here's how no-account swaps work and what to keep in mind.
Why no account is needed
A non-custodial swap never holds a balance for you, so there's nothing to log into. You simply send coins to a one-time deposit address and receive the converted coins at the address you specify.
Because the provider isn't storing your funds long-term, the heavy onboarding of a custodial exchange — email, password, ID upload, proof of address — isn't required for standard swaps.
What about compliance?
Reputable swap services still screen destination and refund addresses against sanctions lists (such as the OFAC SDN list) to block prohibited wallets. This protects users and keeps the service compliant without collecting your personal data.
Very large orders may trigger additional checks at the liquidity-provider level, but everyday swaps remain account-free.
How to do a no-account swap
Pick your pair and amount, paste your receiving address, add a refund address (in case the deposit needs to be returned), then send your deposit. That's it — no profile, no password.
Optional accounts exist only for convenience features like price alerts, watchlists, and transaction history. They're never required to complete a swap.
Frequently asked questions
Is a no-KYC crypto swap legal?
Non-custodial swaps that screen for sanctioned addresses are widely used and operate within the rules in most regions. Always follow the laws that apply to you.
Can the swap be fully anonymous?
Swaps don't require personal information, but blockchains are public ledgers — your wallet addresses and transactions are visible on-chain. 'No account' is not the same as 'untraceable.'
Why is a refund address requested?
If a deposit arrives outside the accepted min/max or a rare routing issue occurs, the refund address is where your funds are safely returned.
